  • Samaritans- Boston-based suicide prevention organization. Hotline available 24/7 via call or text at 877-870-4673.
  • National Suicide Prevention Lifeline- available 24/7 at 1-800-273-8255
  • Crisis Text Line- avialable 24/7 by texting HOME to 741741.
  • The Trevor Project- crisis intervention and suicide prevention services for LGBTQ+ people ages 13-24.
    • Calling services- available 24/7 at 1-866-488-7386.
    • Texting services- text TREVOR to 1-202-304-1200 Monday-Friday, 3pm-10pm.

  • The Network/la Red- Boston-based survivor-led organization with a mission to end partner abuse in LGBTQ+, poly, and SM communities. Hotline is available 24/7 at 617-742-4911, toll-free: 800-832-1901, or TTY: 617-227-4911. The hotline has Spanish-speaking capacity.
  • Trans Lifeline- peer support hotline run by and for trans people. Hotline available from 10am-4am at 877-565-8860.
  • GLAD Answers- legal hotline at GLBTQ Legal Advocates & Defenders (GLAD). LGBTQ+ legal help is available from 1:30pm-4:30pm Monday-Friday at 800-455-4523. Online chat is also available during the same times.

Sexual Assault/Domestic Violence

  • National Domestic Violence Hotline- available 24/7 at 1-800-799-7233 or TTY 1-800-787-3224 and online chat available 24/7

  • Boston Area Rape Crisis Center (BARCC)- available 24/7 at 800-841-8371. For deaf/hard-of-hearing folks, use Mass Relay at 800-439-2370 and ask to be connected to the hotline number.

  • National Teen Dating Abuse Hotline- available 24/7 by phone at 1-866-331-9474 or TTY: 1-866-331-8453, online chat, and via text by texting LOVEIS to 22522.
  • National Sexual Assault Hotline- available 24/7 at 800-656-4673. Online chat available 24/7 in English and Spanish.
  • 1 in 6- National helpline for men who have been sexually assaulted or abused. Available by online chat 24/7 and online support groups meet every week.

Runaways

  • National Runaway Safeline- available 24/7 at 1-800-786-2929 for both parents and runaways. Also offers online chat, email, or forum discussion boards.

Addiction

  • Massachusetts Overdose Prevention Helpline 800-972-0590 allows people using drugs alone to be monitored during a phone call, and receive emergency medical care if they overdose.
    • When a hotline staffer answers the phone, callers give an address and cellphone number. The staffer stays on the phone for at least five minutes — sometimes longer — after the caller uses drugs. If the caller stops responding to questions, the staffer calls 911. A caller's address is only shared if there’s a suspected overdose.

  • Massachusetts Council on Compulsive Gambling- hotline available 24/7 at 1-800-426-1234 and by online chat
  • The MA Substance Use Helpline- available from 8am-10pm Monday-Friday and 8am-6pm on weekends at 800-327-5050
  • MA Smokers’ Helpline- available 24/7 at 1-800-784-8669, Spanish: 1-800-833-5256, other languages: 1-800-784-8669 to connect with interpreter services, TTY: 1-888-229-2182 or enroll online to access email, text, chat and web materials
  • Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA)- available 24/7 at 1-800-662-4357. Helpline is a treatment referral and information service for individuals and families facing mental and/or substance use disorders. Hotline has Spanish-speaking capacity.
  • National Problem Gambling Helpline- available 24/7 at 1-800-522-4700 through call/text or chat online.
